Children in Worship

Any family that has visited more than one church will tell you there is a wide variety of beliefs that surround children and worship.

Here at Kilbourne United Methodist Church we believe it is important for children to experience worship as part of the whole body of Christ.  Every Sunday children are invited to start worship in the sanctuary with their family.  Children's bulletins are available.  Is your child active? No problem!  The energy and sounds of children are welcome in worship.

During worship, there is a time called Children's Moments.  During this time children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a special message.  All children (and adults!) can come forward but none are ever forced.

On the first Sunday of every month we celebrate the sacrament of Communion.  Children are invited to stay with their families throughout the entire service and to take Communion.

The other Sundays of each month, children are invited to attend Junior Church following children's moments in worship.  Junior Church has lessons and activities designed to engage children in learning about God.  Junior Church occurs in our Sunday School wing and children rejoin their families following church.  You would like to meet the teacher before worship starts please ask the ushers to introduce you.  Parents are also welcome to go with their child to Junior Church to ensure the child is comfortable.

Nursery is available.  Currently we have no nursery staff.
